The symptoms of this drug are of an asthenic type, simulating low fevers,\u00a0septic conditions<\/i><\/span>\u00a0of the blood, malarial poisoning and extreme prostration. Indescribable sick feeling.\u00a0Great muscular soreness and putrid phenomena always are present<\/i><\/span>. All the secretions are offensive-breath, stool, urine, sweat, etc. Epidemic influenza. Chronic intestinal tox\u00e6mias of children with fetid stools and eructations.<\/p>\n

Baptisia in low dilutions produces a form of anti-bodies to the bac typhosus, viz, the agglutinins (Mellon<\/i><\/span>). Thus it raises the natural bodily resistance to the invasion of the bacillary intoxication, which produces the typhoid syndrome. Typhoid carriers. After inoculation with anti-typhoid serum. Intermittent pulse, especially in the aged.<\/p>\n

Mind.–<\/b><\/span>Wild, wandering feeling. Inability to think. Mental confusion. Ideas confused. Illusion of divided personality.\u00a0Thinks he is broken or double, and tosses about the bed trying to get pieces together<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Cajeput<\/i><\/span>). Delirium, wandering, muttering. Perfect indifference. Falls asleep while being spoken to. Melancholia, with stupor.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Confused, swimming feeling. Vertigo; pressure at root of nose. Skin of forehead feels tight; seems drawn to back of head. Feels too large,\u00a0heavy, numb<\/i><\/span>. Soreness of eyeballs. Brain feels sore. Stupor; falls asleep while spoken to. Early deafness in typhoid conditions. Eyelids heavy.<\/p>\n

Face.–<\/b><\/span>Besotted look<\/i><\/span>. Dark red. Pain at root of nose. Muscles of jaw rigid.<\/p>\n

Mouth.–<\/b><\/span>Taste flat, bitter. Teeth and gums sore, ulcerated.\u00a0Breath fetid. Tongue feels burned<\/i><\/span>; yellowish-brown; edges red and shining. Dry and brown in center, with dry and glistening edges; surface cracked and sore.\u00a0Can swallow liquids only<\/i><\/span>; least solid food gags.<\/p>\n

Throat.–<\/b><\/span>Dark redness of tonsils and soft palate.\u00a0Constriction, contraction of \u0153sophagus<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Cajeput<\/i><\/span>). Great difficulty in swallowing solid food. Painless sore throat, and offensive discharge.\u00a0Contraction at cardiac orifice<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>Can swallow only liquids, vomiting due to spasm of \u0153sophagus. Gastric fever. No appetite. Constant desire for water.\u00a0Sinking feeling at stomach<\/i><\/span>. Pain in epigastric region. Feeling of hard substance (Abies nig<\/i><\/span>). All symptoms worse from beer (Kali bich<\/i><\/span>). Cardiac orifice contracted convulsively and ulcerative inflammation of stomach and bowels.<\/p>\n

Abdomen.–<\/b><\/span>Right side markedly affected. Distended and rumbling. Soreness over region of gall-bladder, with diarrh\u0153a. Stools very\u00a0offensive, thin, dark, bloody<\/i><\/span>. Soreness of abdomen, in region of liver. Dysentery of old people.<\/p>\n

Female.–<\/b><\/span>Threatened miscarriage from mental depression, shock, watching, low fevers. Menses too early, too profuse. Lochia acrid, fetid. Puerperal fever.<\/p>\n

Respiratory.–<\/b><\/span>Lungs feel compressed, breathing difficult; seeks open window. Fears going to sleep on account of nightmare and\u00a0sense of suffocation<\/i><\/span>. Constriction of chest.<\/p>\n

Back and Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Neck tired. Stiffness and pain, aching and drawing in arms and legs. Pain in sacrum, around hips and legs.\u00a0Sore and bruised<\/i><\/span>. Decubitus.<\/p>\n

Sleep.–<\/b><\/span>Sleepless and restless. Nightmare and frightful dreams. Cannot get herself together, feels scattered about bed. Falls asleep while answering a question.<\/p>\n

Skin.–<\/b><\/span>Livid spots all over body and limbs. Burning and heat in skin (Arsenic<\/i><\/span>). Putrid ulcers with stupor, low delirium and prostration.<\/p>\n

Fever.–<\/b><\/span>Chill, with rheumatic pains and soreness all over body. Heat all over, with occasional chills. Chill about 11 am.Adynamic fevers<\/i><\/span>. Typhus fever. Shipboard fever.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>; Humid heat; fog; indoors.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Compare:\u00a0Bryonia<\/i><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0Arsenic<\/i><\/span>\u00a0may be needed to complete the favorable reaction.\u00a0Ailanthus<\/i><\/span>\u00a0differs, being more painful. Baptisia more painless.\u00a0Rhus; Muriat acid; Arsenic; Bryon; Arnica; Echinac. Pyrogen<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Baptisia confusia<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Pain in right jaw and oppression in left hypochondrium, producing dyspn\u0153a and necessity to assume erect position).<\/p>\n

Dose.–<\/b><\/span>Tincture, to twelfth attenuation. Has rather short action.<\/p>\n
