CARBO ANIMALIS<\/span>
\n<\/span>Animal Charcoal<\/b><\/p>\n

Seems to be especially adapted to scrofulous and venous constitutions, old people, and after debilitating disease, with feeble circulation and lowered vitality.\u00a0Glands are indurated<\/i><\/span>, veins distended, skin blue.\u00a0Stitch remaining after pleurisy<\/i><\/span>. Easily strained from lifting. Weakness of nursing women. Ulceration and decomposition. All its secretions are offensive. Causes local congestions\u00a0without<\/i><\/span>\u00a0heat.<\/p>\n

Mind.–<\/b><\/span>Desire to be alone, sad and reflective,\u00a0avoids conversation<\/i><\/span>. Anxiety at night, with orgasm of blood.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Headache, as if head had been blown to pieces. Rush of blood with confusion. Sensation as if something lay above eyes so that she could not look up. Bluish cheeks and lips. Vertigo followed by nose-bleed. Nose swollen, tip bluish small tumor on it. Hearing confused;\u00a0cannot tell direction of sound<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>Eating tires patient. Weak, empty feeling in stomach. Burning and griping.\u00a0Weak digestion. Flatulence<\/i><\/span>. Ptomaine poisoning. Repugnance to fat food. Sour water from mouth. Pyrosis.<\/p>\n

Female.–<\/b><\/span>Nausea of pregnancy; worse at night. Lochia offensive (Kreos; Rhus; Secale<\/i><\/span>). Menses too early, frequent long lasting,\u00a0followed by great exhaustion<\/i><\/span>, so weak, can hardly speak (Cocc<\/i><\/span>), flow only in morning (Bor; Sep<\/i><\/span>). Burning in vagina and labia. Darting in breast;\u00a0painful indurations<\/i><\/span>\u00a0in breast, especially right. Cancer of uterus, burning pain down thighs.<\/p>\n

Respiratory.–<\/b><\/span>Pleurisy, typhoid character, and remaining stitch. Ulceration of lung, with feeling of coldness of chest. Cough, with discharge of greenish pus.<\/p>\n

Skin.–<\/b><\/span>Spongy ulcers, copper-colored eruption. Acne rosacea. Chilblains, worse in evening, in bed and from cold. Verruca on hands and face of old people, with bluish color of extremities.\u00a0Glands indurated<\/i><\/span>, swollen, painful, in neck, axill\u0107, groin, mamm\u0107; pains lancinating, cutting, burning (Con; Merc iod flav<\/i><\/span>). Burning, rawness and fissures; moisture.\u00a0Bubo<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Pain in coccyx; burns when touched. Ankles turn easily. Straining and over-lifting produce great debility. Joints weak. Easy discoloration. Pain in hip joints at night.\u00a0Night sweat<\/i><\/span>\u00a0fetid and profuse. Wrist pain.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, after shaving, loss of animal fluids.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>The Carbon group all have putrid discharges and exhalations. All act on the skin, causing interrigo and excoriations. Glandular enlargements and catarrhal states, flatulency and asphyxiation.<\/p>\n

Carbon Tetrachlorid<\/i><\/span>\u00a0is said to cause fatty liver (Phosph; Ars; Chlorof<\/i><\/span>). Paralysis of interosseus muscles of feet and hands. Wonderful clinical results in the treatment of Hook worm disease.\u00a0See Thymol<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Relationship).<\/p>\n
