DIOSCOREA VILLOSA<\/span>
\n<\/span>Wild Yam<\/b><\/p>\n

As a remedy for many kinds of\u00a0pain<\/i><\/span>, especially colic, and in severe, painful affections of abdominal and pelvic viscera; it ranks with the polychrests of the Materia Medica. Persons of feeble digestive powers; tea-drinkers, with much flatulence.\u00a0Gall stone colic<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Mind.–<\/b><\/span>Calls things by the wrong name.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Dull pain in both temples; better pressure, but worse afterwards. Buzzing in head.<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>Mouth dry and bitter in morning, tongue coated, no thirst. Belching of large quantities of offensive gas. Neuralgia of stomach.\u00a0Sinking at the pit of the stomach<\/i><\/span>; pyrosis.\u00a0Pain along sternum and extending into arms<\/i><\/span>. Eructations of sour, bitter wind,\u00a0with hiccough<\/i><\/span>. Sharp pain in epigastrium, relieved by standing erect.<\/p>\n

Abdomen.–<\/b><\/span>Pains suddenly shift to different parts;\u00a0appear in remote localities, as fingers and toes<\/i><\/span>. Rumbling, with emission of much flatus. Griping, cutting in hypogastric region, with intermittent cutting in stomach and small intestines. Colic; better walking about; pains radiate from abdomen, to back, chest, arms; worse, bending forwards and while lying.\u00a0Sharp pains from liver, shooting upward to right nipple<\/i><\/span>. Pain from gall-bladder to chest, back, and arms. Renal colic, with pain in extremities. Hurried desire for stool.<\/p>\n

Heart.–<\/b><\/span>Angina pectoris; pain back of sternum into arms; labored breathing;\u00a0feeble action of heart<\/i><\/span>. Especially with flatulence and pain through chest and tightness across.<\/p>\n

Rectum.–<\/b><\/span>H\u0107morrhoids, with darting pains to liver; look like bunches or grapes or red cherries; protrude after stool, with pain in anus. Diarrh\u015ba (worse in morning), yellowish, followed by exhaustion, as if flatus and feces were hot.<\/p>\n

Male.–<\/b><\/span>Relaxation and coldness of organs<\/i><\/span>. Pains shoot into testicles from region of kidneys.\u00a0Strong-smelling sweat<\/i><\/span>\u00a0on scrotum and pubes. Emissions in sleep, or from sexual atony,\u00a0with weak knees<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Female.–<\/b><\/span>Uterine colic; pains radiate from uterus. Vivid dreams.<\/p>\n

Respiratory.–<\/b><\/span>Tight feeling all along sternum. Chest does not seem to expand on breathing. Short-winded.<\/p>\n

Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Lameness in back; worse, stooping. Aching and stiffness in joints. Sciatica; pains shoot down thigh; worse, right side; better, when perfectly still.\u00a0Felons<\/i><\/span>\u00a0in beginning, when pricking is first felt. Nails brittle. Cramps in flexors of fingers and toes.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, evening and night,\u00a0lying down<\/i><\/span>, and doubling up.\u00a0Better<\/i><\/span>, standing erect, motion in open air; pressure.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Antidotes:\u00a0Chamom; Camph<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n
