MAGNESIUM PHOSPHORICUM<\/span>

\n(MAGNESIA PHOSPHORICA)<\/b><\/p>\n

The great anti-spasmodic remedy. Cramping of muscles with radiating pains. Neuralgic pains\u00a0relieved by warmth<\/i><\/span>. Especially suited to tired, languid, exhausted subjects. Indisposition for mental exertion. Goitre.<\/p>\n

Mind.–<\/b><\/span>Laments all the time about the pain. Inability to think clearly. Sleepless on account of indigestion.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Vertigo on moving, falls forward on closing eyes, better walking in open air. Aches after mental labor, with chilliness; always better warmth (Sil<\/i><\/span>). Sensation as if contents were liquid, as if parts of brain were changing places, as of a cap on head.<\/p>\n

Eyes.–<\/b><\/span>Supraorbital pains; worse, right side; relieved by warmth applied externally. Increased lachrymation. Twitching of lids. Nystagmus strabismus, ptosis. Eyes hot, tired, vision blurred, colored lights before eyes.<\/p>\n

Ears.–<\/b><\/span>Severe neuralgic pain<\/i><\/span>; worse behind right ear; worse, by going into cold air, and\u00a0washing face and neck with cold water<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Mouth.–<\/b><\/span>Toothache; better by heat and hot liquids<\/i><\/span>. Ulceration of teeth, with swelling of glands of face, throat and neck\u00a0and swelling<\/i><\/span>\u00a0of tongue.\u00a0Complaints of teething children<\/i><\/span>. Spasms without febrile symptoms.<\/p>\n

Throat.–<\/b><\/span>Soreness and stiffness, especially right side; parts seem puffy,\u00a0with chilliness<\/i><\/span>, and aching all over.<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>\u00a0Hiccough, with retching day and night. Thirst for very cold drinks.<\/p>\n

Abdomen.–<\/b><\/span>Enteralgia<\/i><\/span>, relieved by pressure.\u00a0Flatulent colic, forcing patient to bend double; relieved by rubbing, warmth, pressure; accompanied with belching of gas, which gives no relief. Bloated, full sensation in abdomen; must loosen clothing, walk about and constantly pass flatus<\/i><\/span>. Constipation in rheumatic subjects due to flatulence and indigestion.<\/p>\n

Female.–<\/b><\/span>Menstrual colic. Membranous dysmenorrh\u015ba<\/i><\/span>. Menses too early, dark, stringy. Swelling of external parts. Ovarian neuralgia. Vaginismus.<\/p>\n

Respiratory.–<\/b><\/span>Asthmatic oppression of chest. Dry, tickling cough.\u00a0Spasmodic cough<\/i><\/span>, with difficulty in lying down.\u00a0Whooping-cough<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Corall<\/i><\/span>). Voice hoarse, larynx sore and raw. Intercostal neuralgia.<\/p>\n

Heart.–<\/b><\/span>Angina pectoris<\/i><\/span>. Nervous spasmodic palpitation. Constricting pains around heart.<\/p>\n

Fever.–<\/b><\/span>Chilliness<\/i><\/span>\u00a0after dinner, in evening.\u00a0Chills run up and down the back, with shivering<\/i><\/span>, followed by a suffocating sensation.<\/p>\n

Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Involuntary shaking of hands. Paralysis agitans. Cramps in calves. Sciatica; feet very tender. Darting pains. Twitchings.\u00a0Chorea<\/i><\/span>. Writers’ and players’ cramp. Tetanic spasms. Weakness in arms and hands, finger-tips stiff and numb. General muscular weakness.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, right side,\u00a0cold<\/i><\/span>, touch, night.\u00a0Better<\/i><\/span>, warmth, bending double, pressure, friction.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Compare:\u00a0Kali phos; Colocy; Silica; Zinc; Diosc<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Antidotes:\u00a0Bell; Gels; Lach<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Dose.–<\/b><\/span>First to twelfth potency. Sometimes the highest potencies are preferable. Acts especially well, given in hot water.<\/p>\n
