MEZEREUM<\/span>
\n<\/span>Spurge Olive<\/b><\/p>\n

Skin symptoms, affections of bones, and neuralgias most important, especially about teeth and face. Bruised, weary feeling in joints, with drawing and stiffness.\u00a0Pains of various kinds, with chilliness and sensitiveness to cold air<\/i><\/span>. Bone pains. Eruptions after vaccination. Burning, darting sensation in the muscles; subsultus tendinum. Pains shoot upward and seem to draw patient up out of bed. Semi-lateral complaints.\u00a0Patient is very sensitive to cold air<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Hard work to talk. Headache; worse from talking. Stupefying headache in right side. Affections of external head; scaly eruption, white scabs. Head covered with\u00a0thick, leathery crusts, under which pus collects<\/i><\/span>, Violent neuralgia about face and teeth, running towards ear, at night;\u00a0worse, eating<\/i><\/span>; better near hot stove. Roots of teeth decay. Teeth feel elongated.<\/p>\n

Nose.–<\/b><\/span>Sneezing, coryza, interior of nose, excoriated. Post-nasal adenoids.<\/p>\n

Ears.–<\/b><\/span>Feel too much open, as\u00a0if tympanum was exposed to the cold air and it blew into the ear<\/i><\/span>. Desire to bore fingers in.<\/p>\n

Eyes.–<\/b><\/span>Ciliary neuralgia after operations<\/i><\/span>. Especially after removal of eyeball. Pains radiate and shoot downward,\u00a0with cold feeling and stiffness of bone<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Face.–<\/b><\/span>Red. Eruption around mouth, with coryza.<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>Desire for ham-fat. Burning in tongue, extending to stomach.\u00a0Mouth waters<\/i><\/span>. Nausea felt in throat; better, eating. Chronic gastritis; burning, corroding pain; nausea, vomiting, chocolate color.\u00a0Gastric ulcer<\/i><\/span>\u00a0with much burning.<\/p>\n

Abdomen.–<\/b><\/span>Swelling of glands with large abdomen in children. Pressure in inguinal ring. Flatulent colic, with shivering and difficult respiration.<\/p>\n

Rectum.–<\/b><\/span>Constipation after confinement. Prolapse of rectum. Diarrh\u0153a, with small, white particles.\u00a0Green discharges<\/i><\/span>. Constipation, with hepatic and uterine inertia. Constriction of anus; stitches and prolapse of rectum.<\/p>\n

Urine.–<\/b><\/span>Red flakes float on top of urine. Hot, bloody Biting, burning in forepart of urethra at the close of micturition. H\u00e6maturia preceded by cramp pain in the bladder, After urinating, a few drops of blood are passed.<\/p>\n

Female.–<\/b><\/span>Menses too frequent, soon, profuse. Leucorrh\u0153a like albumen; very corroding.<\/p>\n

Male.–<\/b><\/span>Enlargement of testicles<\/i><\/span>. Violent sexual desire. Gonorrh\u0153a, with h\u00e6maturia.<\/p>\n

Respiratory.–<\/b><\/span>Soreness and burning in bones of thorax. Constriction across chest. Cough; worse; eating, irritation lower than can be reached, on taking a warm drink.<\/p>\n

Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Pain in neck and back; worse, motion and at night; intolerant of all touch.\u00a0Pain<\/i><\/span>\u00a0and burning in tibia and long bones. Legs and feet go to sleep. Pain in hip and knee.<\/p>\n

Skin.–<\/b><\/span>Eczema;\u00a0intolerable itching<\/i><\/span>; chilliness with pruritus; worse in bed. Ulcers itch and burn, surrounded by vesicles and shining, fiery-red areola. Zona, with burning pain.\u00a0Bones<\/i><\/span>, especially long bones, inflamed and swollen; caries, exostosis; pain worse night, touch, damp weather (Merc; Syph<\/i><\/span>).\u00a0Eruptions ulcerate and form thick scabs under purulent matter exudes<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Chrysophanic acid<\/i><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, cold air; night, evening until midnight, warm food, touch, motion.\u00a0Better<\/i><\/span>, open air.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Compare:\u00a0Dirca palustris<\/i><\/span>-Leather wood–(a gastro-intestinal irritant inducing salivation, emesis and purgation; cerebral hyper\u00e6mia; neuralgic pains, with depression, palpitation, and dyspn\u0153a);\u00a0Merc; Phyt; Rhus; Guaiac; Syph<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Antidotes:\u00a0Kali hyd; Merc<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n
