Has a marked action on the skin, heart and nervous system, producing and curing paralytic conditions with cramp-like contractions of upper extremities. Hemiplegia. Difficult articulation.<\/p>\n

Mind.–<\/b><\/span>Memory weak; slow perception. Melancholy, with obstinate constipation.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Vertigo and diplopia, when looking down. Vertigo, when looking fixedly at an object, and on rising in bed. Pain in brain, as if head would burst. Numb feeling. Dull, unable to think. Indolence.\u00a0Eruption on scalp<\/i><\/span>. Humid, fetid spots\u00a0behind ears<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Graph; Petrol<\/i><\/span>) and occiput, with red, rough, herpetic spots in front.\u00a0Corrosive itching on forehead and edge of hair<\/i><\/span>; worse, heat.<\/p>\n

Eyes.–<\/b><\/span>Can see objects only when looking at them sideways. Eyes water on reading. Double vision.\u00a0Sensation as if eyes were drawn back into the head<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Face.–<\/b><\/span>Pale, sunken, with blue rings around eyes (Phos ac<\/i><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>Canine hunger, with hurried eating<\/i><\/span>, without appetite. Thirst. Empty belching. Vomiting of food; greenish water. Throbbing in pit.<\/p>\n

Abdomen.–<\/b><\/span>Borborygmus, with profuse, fetid flatus. Gnawing around navel. Ineffectual urging.\u00a0Undigested feces. Stool passes when emitting flatus<\/i><\/span>. Burning pain in anus.<\/p>\n

Chest.–<\/b><\/span>Oppression as from a weight; asthmatic when lying down.\u00a0Palpitation<\/i><\/span>, with weakness and empty feeling in chest. Dyspn\u015ba. Obtuse stitches in chest.<\/p>\n

Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Weakness of lower limbs<\/i><\/span>. Paralysis of legs and feet. Want of animal heat in limbs. Cold feet. Painless paralysis. Constant cold feet. Swelling, burning stiffness of fingers. Veins and hands swollen. \u015adema. Stiffness of joints.<\/p>\n

Skin.–<\/b><\/span>Itching, scurfy pimples; herpes; sensitive and numb. Nocturnal burning.\u00a0Very sensitive skin<\/i><\/span>; slightest friction causes soreness and chapping.\u00a0Violent itching eruption, bleeding, oozing<\/i><\/span>; want of perspiration. Pruritus, especially of scalp, which is sensitive.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, undressing, rest, friction of clothes.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Compare:\u00a0Con; Nat m; Rhus; Caust; Lathyr<\/i><\/span>. Oleander contains Oleandrin and also Nerein which latter is said to be closely related if not identical with Digitalin. The pulse becomes slower, more regular, more powerful.\u00a0Diuresis<\/i><\/span>; palpitation, \u015bdema and dyspn\u015ba of valvular disease disappear.<\/p>\n

Antidotes:\u00a0Camph; Sulph<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Dose.–<\/b><\/span>Third to thirtieth potency.<\/p>\n
