Is especially adapted to persons of bilious temperament. It affects chiefly the\u00a0duodenum<\/i><\/span>, small intestines, liver, and\u00a0rectum<\/i><\/span>\u00a0The Podophyllum disease is a gastro-enteritis with colicky pain and bilious vomiting. Stool is watery with jelly-like mucus, painless,\u00a0profuse<\/i><\/span>. Gushing and offensive. Many troubles during pregnancy; pendulous abdomen after confinement; prolapsus uteri; painless cholera morbus. Torpidity of the liver; portal engorgement with a tendency to h\u0107morrhoids, hypogastric pain, fullness of superficial veins, jaundice.<\/p>\n

Mind.–<\/b><\/span>Loquacity and delirium from eating acid fruits. Depression of spirits.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Vertigo, with tendency to fall forward. Headache, dull pressure, worse morning, with heated face and bitter taste;\u00a0alternating with diarrh\u015ba. Rolling of head from side to side<\/i><\/span>, moaning and vomiting and eyelids half closed. Child perspires on head during sleep.<\/p>\n

Mouth.–<\/b><\/span>Grinding the teeth at night;\u00a0intense desire to press the gums together<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Phytol<\/i><\/span>). Difficult dentition.\u00a0Tongue broad, large, moist<\/i><\/span>. Foul, putrid taste.\u00a0Burning sensation of tongue<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>Hot, sour belching; nausea and vomiting. Thirst for large quantities of cold water (Bry<\/i><\/span>). Vomiting of hot, frothy mucus. Heartburn; gagging or empty retching. Vomiting of milk.<\/p>\n

Abdomen.–<\/b><\/span>Distended; heat and emptiness.\u00a0Sensation of weakness or sinking.<\/i><\/span>\u00a0Can lie comfortably only on stomach. Liver region painful,\u00a0better rubbing part<\/i><\/span>. Rumbling and shifting of flatus in ascending colon.<\/p>\n

Rectum.–<\/b><\/span>Cholera infantum and morbus. Diarrh\u015ba of long standing;\u00a0early in morning; during teething, with hot, glowing cheeks<\/i><\/span>\u00a0while being bathed or washed; in hot weather after acid fruits. Morning, painless diarrh\u015ba when not due to venous stasis or intestinal ulceration. Green, watery,\u00a0fetid, profuse<\/i><\/span>, gushing.\u00a0Prolapse of rectum<\/i><\/span>\u00a0before or with stool. Constipation; clay-colored, hard, dry, difficult. Constipation alternating with diarrh\u015ba (Ant crud<\/i><\/span>). Internal and external piles.<\/p>\n

Female.–<\/b><\/span>Pain in uterus and\u00a0right ovary, with shifting noises along ascending colon<\/i><\/span>. Suppressed menses, with pelvic tenesmus.\u00a0Prolapsed uteri<\/i><\/span>, especially after parturition. H\u0107morrhoids, with prolapsus ani during pregnancy.<\/p>\n

Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Pain between shoulders, under right scapula, in loins and lumbar region. Pain in right inguinal region; shoots down inner thigh to knees. Paralytic weakness on left side.<\/p>\n

Fever.–<\/b><\/span>Chill at 7 am, with pain in hypochondria, and knees, ankles, wrists,\u00a0Great loquacity<\/i><\/span>\u00a0during fever. Profuse sweat.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, in early morning, in hot weather, during dentition.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Compare:\u00a0Mandragora<\/i><\/span>-also called mandrake–(must not be confounded with\u00a0Podoph<\/i><\/span>. Great desire for sleep; exaggeration of sounds and enlarged vision. Bowels inactive; stools large, white and hard).\u00a0Aloe; Chelid; Merc; Nux; Sulph. Prunella<\/i><\/span>-Self-head–(Colitis).<\/p>\n

Dose.–<\/b><\/span>Tincture to sixth potency. The 200th and 1000th seem to do good work in cholera infantum, when indicated.<\/p>\n
