PSORINUM<\/span>
\n<\/span>Scabies Vesicle<\/b><\/p>\n

The therapeutic field of this remedy is found in so-called psoric manifestations. Psorinum is a cold medicine; wants the head kept warm,\u00a0wants warm clothing<\/i><\/span>\u00a0even in summer.\u00a0Extreme sensitiveness to cold. Debility<\/i><\/span>, independent of any organic disease, especially the weakness remaining after acute disease.\u00a0Lack of reaction<\/i><\/span>, i.e, phagocytes defective; when well-chosen remedies fail to act. Scrofulous patients. Secretions\u00a0have a filthy smell<\/i><\/span>. Profuse sweating. Cardiac weakness. Skin symptoms very prominent. Often gives immunity from cold-catching. Easy perspiration when walking. Syphilis, inherited and tertiary.\u00a0Offensive discharges<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Mind.–<\/b><\/span>Hopeless; despairs of recovery.\u00a0Melancholy<\/i><\/span>, deep and persistent; religious. Suicidal tendency.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Awakens at night with pain as from blow on head. Chronic headaches; hungry during attacks; with vertigo. Hammering pain; brain feels too large; worse, change of weather. Dull, pressive pain in occiput. Humid eruption on scalp; hair matted. Hair dry.<\/p>\n

Eyes.–<\/b><\/span>Agglutinated. Blepharitis.\u00a0Chronic ophthalmia, that constantly recurs<\/i><\/span>. Edges of lids red. Secretion acrid.<\/p>\n

Mouth.–<\/b><\/span>Obstinate rhagades at corners. Tongue, gums ulcerated; tough mucus of foul taste adheres to soft palate.<\/p>\n

Nose.–<\/b><\/span>Dry, coryza, with stoppage of nose. Chronic catarrh; dropping from posterior nares. Acne rosacea.<\/p>\n

Ears.–<\/b><\/span>Raw, red,\u00a0oozing scabs around ears<\/i><\/span>. Sore pain behind ears. Herpes from temples over ears to cheeks.\u00a0Offensive discharge from eczema around ears. Intolerable itching<\/i><\/span>. Chronic otorrh\u015ba.\u00a0Most fetid pus from ears<\/i><\/span>, brownish, offensive.<\/p>\n

Face.–<\/b><\/span>Swelling of upper lip. Pale, delicate.\u00a0Humid eruption on face<\/i><\/span>. Sickly.<\/p>\n

Throat.–<\/b><\/span>Tonsils greatly swollen; painful swallowing, with pain in ears. Profuse, offensive saliva; tough mucus in throat. Recurring quinsy.\u00a0Eradicates tendency to quinsy<\/i><\/span>. Hawking up of cheesy, pea-like balls of disgusting smell and taste (Agar<\/i><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>Eructations like bad eggs.\u00a0Very hungry always<\/i><\/span>;\u00a0must have something to eat in the middle of the night<\/i><\/span>. Nausea; vomiting of pregnancy. Pain in abdomen after eating.<\/p>\n

Stool.–<\/b><\/span>Mucous,\u00a0bloody, excessively fetid, dark fluid<\/i><\/span>. Hard, difficult stool, with blood from rectum and burning piles.\u00a0Constipation of infants<\/i><\/span>, in pale, sickly scrofulous children.<\/p>\n

Female.–<\/b><\/span>Leucorrh\u015ba<\/i><\/span>\u00a0fetid, lumpy, with much backache and\u00a0debility<\/i><\/span>. Mamm\u0107 swollen and painful. Pimples oozing an acrid fluid that burns and excoriates the glands.<\/p>\n

Respiratory.–<\/b><\/span>Asthma, with dyspn\u015ba; worse, sitting up; better, lying down and keeping arms spread wide apart. Dry, hard cough, with great weakness in chest.\u00a0Feeling of ulceration under sternum<\/i><\/span>. Pain in chest; better, lying down. Cough returns every winter, from suppressed eruption.\u00a0Hay-fever<\/i><\/span>\u00a0returning irregularly every year.<\/p>\n

Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Weakness of joints, as if they would not hold together.\u00a0Eruption around finger-nails<\/i><\/span>. Fetid foot-sweats.<\/p>\n

Skin.–<\/b><\/span>Dirty, dingy look. Dry, lusterless, rough hair.\u00a0Intolerable itching<\/i><\/span>. Herpetic eruptions, especially on scalp and bends of joints with itching; worse, from warmth of bed. Enlarged glands. Sebaceous glands secrete excessively; oily skin. Indolent ulcers, slow to heal. Eczema behind ears. Crusty eruptions all over. Urticaria after every exertion. Pustules near finger-nails.<\/p>\n

Fever.–<\/b><\/span>Profuse, offensive perspiration; night-sweats.<\/p>\n

Sleep.–<\/b><\/span>Sleepless from intolerable itching. Easily startled.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, coffee; Psorinum patient does not improve while using coffee.\u00a0Worse<\/i><\/span>, changes of weather, in hot sunshine, from cold.\u00a0Dread of least cold air or draft. Better<\/i><\/span>, heat, warm clothing, even in summer.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Complementary:\u00a0Sulphur<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Compare:\u00a0Pediculus<\/i><\/span>-Head-louse–(psoric manifestations in children. Eruption on dorsum of hands, feet neck. Prurigo; pellagra. Unusual aptitude for study and work).\u00a0Pediculus<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Cooties) transmit typhus and trench fever). In lack of reaction compare\u00a0Calcarea<\/i><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0Natrum ars. Gaertner<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Pessimistic, lack of confidence, subjective troublesome eye symptoms, fear of heights. Urticaria. Use 30th and 200th (Wheeler).<\/p>\n

Dose.–<\/b><\/span>Two hundredth and higher potencies. Should not be repeated too often.\u00a0Psorinum<\/i><\/span>\u00a0requires something like 9 days before it manifests its action, and even a single dose may elicit other symptoms lasting for weeks (Aegedi).<\/p>\n
