A remedy especially marked in the symptoms of the respiratory organs, cough, croup, etc. Heart affections and often indicated for the tubercular diathesis. Children with fair complexion, lax fiber; swollen glands.\u00a0Exhaustion and heaviness of the body after slight exertion, with orgasm of blood to chest, face. Anxiety and difficult breathing<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Mind.–<\/b><\/span>Anxiety and fear. Every excitement increases the cough.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Rush of blood; bursting headache; worse, forehead.<\/p>\n

Eyes.–<\/b><\/span>Watering; gummy or mucus discharge.<\/p>\n

Nose.–<\/b><\/span>Fluent coryza, alternating with stoppage. Dryness; chronic, dry, nasal catarrh.<\/p>\n

Mouth.–<\/b><\/span>Tongue dry and brown; full of vesicles.<\/p>\n

Throat.–<\/b><\/span>Thyroid gland swollen. Stitches and dryness. Burning and stinging. Sore throat; worse after eating sweet things. Tickling causes cough. Clears throat constantly.<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>Excessive thirst,\u00a0great hunger<\/i><\/span>. Cannot bear tight clothing around trunk. Hiccough.<\/p>\n

Male.–<\/b><\/span>Swelling of spermatic cord and testicles, with pain and tenderness. Orchitis<\/i><\/span>. Epididymitis. Heat in parts.<\/p>\n

Female.–<\/b><\/span>Before menses, pain in sacrum, hunger,\u00a0palpitation. During menses<\/i><\/span>, wakes with suffocative spells (Cupr; Iod; Lach<\/i><\/span>). Amenorrh\u015ba, with asthma (Puls<\/i><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Respiratory.–<\/b><\/span>Great dryness of all air-passages.\u00a0Hoarseness; larynx dry, burns, constricted. Cough, dry, barking, croupy<\/i><\/span>; larynx sensitive to touch.\u00a0Croup; worse, during inspiration and before midnight<\/i><\/span>. Respiration short, panting,\u00a0difficult; feeling of a plug in larynx. Cough abates after eating or drinking<\/i><\/span>, especially warm drinks. The dry, chronic sympathetic cough or organic heart disease is relieved by Spongia (Naja<\/i><\/span>). Irrepressible cough from a spot deep in chest, as if raw and sore. Chest weak; can scarcely talk. Laryngeal phthisis. Goitre, with suffocative spells. Bronchial catarrh, with wheezing, asthmatic cough, worse cold air, with profuse expectoration and suffocation; worse, lying with head low and in hot room. Oppression and heat of chest, with sudden weakness.<\/p>\n

Heart.–<\/b><\/span>Rapid and violent palpitation, with dyspn\u015ba; cannot lie down; also feels best resting in horizontal position.\u00a0Awakened suddenly after midnight with pain and suffocation<\/i><\/span>; is flushed, hot, and frightened to death (Acon<\/i><\/span>). Valvular insufficiency. Angina pectoris; faintness, and anxious sweat. Ebullition of blood, veins distended.\u00a0Surging of heart into chest, as if it would force out upward<\/i><\/span>. Hypertrophy of heart, especially right, with asthmatic symptoms.<\/p>\n

Skin.–<\/b><\/span>Swelling and induration of glands<\/i><\/span>; also exophthalmic; cervical glands swollen with tensive pain on turning head, painful on pressure; Goitre. Itching; measles<\/p>\n

Sleep.–<\/b><\/span>Awakes in a fright, and feels as if suffocating<\/i><\/span>. Generally worse after sleep, or sleeps into and aggravation (Lach<\/i><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Fever.–<\/b><\/span>Attacks of heat with anxiety<\/i><\/span>; heat and redness of face and perspiration.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, ascending, wind, before midnight.\u00a0Better<\/i><\/span>, descending, lying with head low.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Compare:\u00a0Acon; Hep; Brom; Lach; Merc prot; Iod<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Goitre).<\/p>\n

Dose.–<\/b><\/span>Second trituration, or tincture to third potency.<\/p>\n
