SULPHURICUM ACIDUM<\/span>
\n<\/span>Sulphuric Acid<\/b><\/p>\n

The “debility” common to acids shows itself here, especially in the digestive tract, giving a very relaxed feeling in the stomach, with craving for stimulants.\u00a0Tremor and weakness<\/i><\/span>; everything must be done in a hurry.\u00a0Hot flushes<\/i><\/span>, followed by perspiration, with trembling. Tendency to gangrene following mechanical injuries. Writer’s cramp. Lead poisoning. Gastralgia and hypochlorrhydria. Purpura h\u0107morrhagia.<\/p>\n

Mind.–<\/b><\/span>Fretful, impatient. Unwilling to answer questions; hurried.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Right-sided neuralgia; painful shocks; skin feels pinched. Sensation as if brain was loose in forehead and falling from side to side (Bell; Rhus<\/i><\/span>). Concussion of brain where skin is cold, body bathed in cold sweat. Compressive pain in side of occiput;\u00a0relieved by holding the hands near the head<\/i><\/span>. Pain of outer parts, as if there were subcutaneous ulceration; painful to touch.\u00a0Thrust in right temple as if plug were pressed in<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Eyes.–<\/b><\/span>Intra-ocular h\u0107morrhage following traumatism. Great chemosis of conjunctiva, with aching and sharp pain.<\/p>\n

Mouth.–<\/b><\/span>Aphth\u0107; gums bleed readily. Offensive breath. Pyorrhea.<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>Heartburn;\u00a0sour eructations; sets teeth on edge<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Robin<\/i><\/span>).\u00a0Craving for alcohol. Water causes coldness of stomach<\/i><\/span>; must be mixed with liquors.\u00a0Relaxed feeling in stomach<\/i><\/span>. Averse to smell of coffee. Sour vomiting. Desire for fresh food.\u00a0Hiccough<\/i><\/span>. Coldness of stomach relieved by applied heat Nausea with chilliness.<\/p>\n

Abdomen.–<\/b><\/span>Weak feeling, with dragging into the hips and small of back.\u00a0Feeling as if hernia would protrude<\/i><\/span>, especially left side.<\/p>\n

Rectum.–<\/b><\/span>Piles; oozing dampness. Rectum feels as if it had a big ball. Diarrh\u015ba, fetid, black, with sour odor of body, and empty faint feeling in abdomen.<\/p>\n

Female.–<\/b><\/span>Menstruation early and profuse. Erosion of cervix in the aged; easily bleeding. Acrid, burning leucorrh\u015ba, often of bloody mucus.<\/p>\n

Respiratory.–<\/b><\/span>Respiration rapid with shooting in cervical muscles and movement of wings of nose;\u00a0larynx moves up and down violently<\/i><\/span>. Bronchitis in children with short, teasing cough.<\/p>\n

Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Cramp-like paralytic contraction in arms, hands; jerking of fingers while writing.<\/p>\n

Skin.–<\/b><\/span>Bad effects from mechanical injuries, with bruises and livid skin. Ecchymosis. Petechi\u0107.\u00a0Purpura h\u0107morrhagica<\/i><\/span>. Livid, red, itching blotches. H\u0107morrhage of black blood from all outlets. Cicatrices turn red and blue and become painful. Chilblains with gangrenous tendency. Carbuncles, boils and other staphylococcic and streptococcic infections.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, from excess of heat or cold in forenoon and evening.\u00a0Better<\/i><\/span>, from warmth, and lying on affected side.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Complementary:\u00a0Puls<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Dose.–<\/b><\/span>Sulphuric acid mixed with three parts of alcohol, ten to fifteen drops three times daily for several weeks, has been successfully used to subdue the craving for liquor. For homeopathic purposes second to thirtieth potency.<\/p>\n
