\n<\/span>White Hellebore<\/b><\/p>\n

A perfect picture of\u00a0collapse<\/i><\/span>, with\u00a0extreme coldness, blueness, and weakness<\/i><\/span>, is offered by this drug. Post-operative shock with cold sweat on forehead, pale face, rapid, feeble pulse.\u00a0Cold perspiration on the forehead<\/i><\/span>, with nearly all complaints.\u00a0Vomiting, purging, and cramps in extremities<\/i><\/span>. The\u00a0profuse<\/i><\/span>, violent retching and vomiting is most characteristic. Surgical shock. Excessive dryness of all mucous surfaces. “Coprophagia<\/i><\/span>” violent mania alternates with silence and refusal to talk.<\/p>\n

Mind.–<\/b><\/span>Melancholy, with stupor and mania. Sits in a stupid manner; notices nothing;\u00a0Sullen indifference<\/i><\/span>. Frenzy of excitement; shrieks, curses. Puerperal mania. Aimless wandering from home.\u00a0Delusions of impending misfortunes<\/i><\/span>. Mania, with desire to cut and tear things (Tarant<\/i><\/span>). Attacks of pain, with delirium driving to madness. Cursing, howling all night.<\/p>\n

Head.–<\/b><\/span>Contracted features.\u00a0Cold sweat on forehead. Sensation of a lump of ice on vertex<\/i><\/span>. Headache, with nausea, vomiting, diarrh\u0153a, pale face. Neck too weak to hold head up.<\/p>\n

Eyes.–<\/b><\/span>Surrounded by dark rings. Staring; turned upwards, without luster. Lachrymation with redness. Lids dry heavy.<\/p>\n

Face.–<\/b><\/span>Features sunken.\u00a0Icy coldness of tip of nose and face<\/i><\/span>. Nose grows more pointed. Tearing in cheeks, temples, and eyes.\u00a0Face very pale, blue, collapsed, cold<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Mouth.–<\/b><\/span>Tongue pale, cold; cool sensation, as from peppermint. Dry in center not relieved by water. Salty saliva. Toothache, teeth feel heavy as if filled with lead.<\/p>\n

Stomach.–<\/b><\/span>Voracious<\/i><\/span>\u00a0appetite.\u00a0Thirst for cold water, but is vomited as soon as swallowed<\/i><\/span>. Averse to warm food. Hiccough.\u00a0Copious vomiting and nausea; aggravated by drinking and least motion<\/i><\/span>. Craves fruit, juicy and cold things, ice, salt. Anguish in pit of stomach. Great weakness after vomiting. Gastric irritability with\u00a0chronic<\/i><\/span>\u00a0vomiting of food.<\/p>\n

Abdomen.–<\/b><\/span>Sinking and empty feeling.\u00a0Cold feeling<\/i><\/span>\u00a0in stomach and abdomen. Pain in abdomen preceding stool. Cramps, knotting abdomen and legs. Sensation as if hernia would protrude (Nux<\/i><\/span>). Abdomen sensitive to pressure, swollen with terrible colic.<\/p>\n

Rectum.–<\/b><\/span>Constipation from inactivity of rectum, with heat and headache. Constipation of babies, and when produced by very cold weather.\u00a0Stools large, with much straining until exhausted, with cold sweat<\/i><\/span>. Diarrh\u0153a, very painful, watery,\u00a0copious, and forcibly evacuated<\/i><\/span>, followed by great prostration. Evacuations of cholera morbus and true cholera when vomiting accompanies the purging.<\/p>\n

Respiratory.–<\/b><\/span>Hoarse, weak voice. Rattling in chest. Much mucus in bronchial tubes, that cannot be coughed up. Coarse rales. Chronic bronchitis in the aged (Hippozanin<\/i><\/span>). Loud barking, stomach cough, followed by eructation of gas; worse, warm room. Hollow cough, tickling low down, with blue face. Cough comes on from drinking, especially cold water; urine escapes when coughing. Cough on entering warm room from cold air (Bryonia<\/i><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Heart.–<\/b><\/span>Palpitation with anxiety and rapid audible respiration. Pulse irregular, feeble. Tobacco heart from chewing. Intermittent action of heart in feeble persons with some hepatic obstruction. One of the best heart stimulants in homeopathic doses (J. S. Mitchell).<\/p>\n

Female.–<\/b><\/span>Menses too early; profuse and exhausting.\u00a0Dysmenorrh\u0153a, with coldness<\/i><\/span>, purging,\u00a0cold sweat<\/i><\/span>.\u00a0Faints from least exertion<\/i><\/span>. Sexual mania precedes menses.<\/p>\n

Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Soreness and tenderness of joints. Sciatica; pains like electric flashes.\u00a0Cramps in calves<\/i><\/span>. Neuralgia in brachial plexus; arms feel swollen, cold, paralytic.<\/p>\n

Skin.–<\/b><\/span>Blue, cold, clammy, inelastic,\u00a0cold as death<\/i><\/span>. Cold sweat. Wrinkling of skin of hands and feet.<\/p>\n

Fever.–<\/b><\/span>Chill,\u00a0with extreme coldness<\/i><\/span>\u00a0and thirst.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, at night; wet, cold weather.\u00a0Better<\/i><\/span>, walking and warmth.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Compare:\u00a0Veratrinum<\/i><\/span>-alkaloid from seeds of Sabadilla.–(electric pains, electric shocks in muscles, fibrillary twitchings);\u00a0Cholos terrepina<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(cramps in calves);\u00a0Camph; Cupr; Ars; Cuprum ars<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(intermittent, cold, clammy sweat<\/i><\/span>);\u00a0Narcissus poeticus<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(gastro-enteritis with much griping and cutting pain in bowels. Fainting, trembling, cold limbs, small and irregular pulse);\u00a0Trychosanthes<\/i><\/span>–(diarrh\u0153a, pain in liver, dizziness after every stool);\u00a0Agaric emetic<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(vertigo; longing for ice-cold water; burning pains in stomach);\u00a0Agaric phalloides<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(cholera, cramps in stomach, cold extremities, urine suppressed).\u00a0Veratrine<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(Increased vascular tension. It relaxes it and stimulates the elimination of toxins by skin, kidneys, and liver).<\/p>\n
