VERBASCUM THAPSUS<\/span>
\n<\/span>Mullein
\n(VERBASCUM)<\/b><\/p>\n

Has a pronounced action on the inferior maxillary branch of the fifth pair of the cranial nerves; on the ear; and respiratory tract and bladder.\u00a0Catarrhs<\/i><\/span>, and colds,\u00a0with periodical prosopalgia<\/i><\/span>. Quiets nervous, and bronchial, and urinary irritation, and cough.<\/p>\n

Face.–<\/b><\/span>Neuralgia affecting zygoma, temporo maxillary joint, and ear (Menyanth<\/i><\/span>), particularly of left side, with lachrymation, coryza, and sensation\u00a0as if parts were crushed with tongs<\/i><\/span>. Talking, sneezing, and change of temperature aggravate the pains; also, pressing teeth together. Pains seem to come in flashes, excited by least movement, occurring periodically at same hour in morning and afternoon each day.<\/p>\n

Ears.–<\/b><\/span>Otalgia, with a sense of obstruction. Deafness. Dry, scaly condition of meatus (use locally).<\/p>\n

Abdomen.–<\/b><\/span>Pain extends deep down, causing contraction of sphincter ani.<\/p>\n

Rectum.–<\/b><\/span>Many movements a day, with twisting about navel. H\u0107morrhoids, with obstructed, hardened stool. Inflamed and painful piles.<\/p>\n

Respiratory.–<\/b><\/span>Hoarse<\/i><\/span>; voice deep, harsh; sounds like a trumpet; “basso profundo”. Cough; worse at night. Asthma. Soreness in pharynx, cough during sleep.<\/p>\n

Urinary.–<\/b><\/span>Constant dribbling.\u00a0Enuresis<\/i><\/span>. Burning urination. Increase with pressure in bladder.<\/p>\n

Extremities.–<\/b><\/span>Cramp-like pain in soles, right foot, and knee. Lower extremities feel heavy. Thumb feels numb. Neuralgic pain in left ankle. Stiffness\u00a0and soreness of joints of lower extremities<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Modalities.–<\/b><\/span>Worse<\/i><\/span>, change of temperature, talking, sneezing, biting hard (inferior dental nerve); from 9 am to 4 pm.<\/p>\n

Relationship.–<\/b><\/span>Compare:\u00a0Rhus arom; Caust; Platin; Sphingurus<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(pain in zygoma).<\/p>\n

Dose.–<\/b><\/span>Mullein oil<\/i><\/span>, (locally, for earache and dry, scaly condition of meatus. Also for teasing cough at night or lying down. Internally, tincture and lower potencies).\u00a0Enuresis<\/i><\/span>, five-drop doses night and morning.<\/p>\n
