COFFEA CRUDA<\/strong>, like\u00a0CHAMOMILLA<\/strong>, acts strongly upon the nervous system. Indeed in nervous troubles, where the patient has not been addicted to the coffee habit, it often takes precedence. Hering used to recommend\u00a0ACONITE\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0COFFEA\u00a0<\/strong>in alternation in painful inflammatory affections, where the fever symptoms of the former and also the nervous sensibility of the latter were present, and I know of no two remedies that alternate better, though I never do it, since I learned to closely individualize.\u00a0COFFEA\u00a0<\/strong>is especially adapted to mental shocks, such as\u00a0SUDDEN SURPRISES, ESPECIALLY JOYFUL SURPRISES, EXCESSIVE LAUGHTER AND PLAYING, DISAPPOINTED LOVE, NOISES, STRONG SMELLS<\/strong>, etc. It is also adapted to\u00a0VARIABLE\u00a0<\/strong>moods;\u00a0FIRST<\/strong>\u00a0CRYING THEN LAUGHING, THEN CRYING AGAIN.<\/strong><\/p>\n

COFFEA\u00a0<\/strong>also vies with\u00a0CHAMOMILLA\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0ACONITE\u00a0<\/strong>as a\u00a0PAIN\u00a0<\/strong>remedy.\u00a0PAINS INSUPPORTABLE, DRIVE TO DESPAIR. EXASPERATION, TEARS,<\/strong>\u00a0TOSSING ABOUT IN GREAT ANGUISH<\/strong>.\u00a0 Here again we would not give\u00a0COFFEA\u00a0<\/strong>in an habitual coffee drinker, but\u00a0CHAMOMILLA\u00a0<\/strong>rather.<\/p>\n

Cough and sleeplessness after measles (a very common occurrence) is wonderfully relieved by it, and it is sleep, not narcosis, and never injures or sickens the patient like the\u00a0STUPOR\u00a0<\/strong>of the opium preparations.<\/p>\n
