LILIUM TIGRINUM<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the remedies that closely resembles SEPIA in its action on the uterine organs. This symptom, for instance, “WEIGHT, WITH FEELING AS IF THE PELVIC CONTENTS WOULD PASS OUT THROUGH THE VAGINA IF NOT PREVENTED BY PRESSURE WITH THE HAND<\/strong>\u00a0(pressing up against the vulva,\u00a0LILIUM TIG<\/strong>.), or by sitting down.” There is no remedy that is more efficacious for uterine displacement than\u00a0LILIUM<\/strong>. The persistent bearing-down feeling in the uterine region of\u00a0LILIUM\u00a0<\/strong>is attended with a feeling as if the pelvic viscera, indeed the whole abdominal contents, were being dragged downward, even from the chest and shoulders, towards the vagina.<\/p>\n

The choice between\u00a0LILIUM\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0SEPIA\u00a0<\/strong>might not always be easy. The\u00a0SEPIA\u00a0<\/strong>case is more likely to be a chronic one. On the other hand, the\u00a0LILIUM\u00a0<\/strong>case is more intense, painful and distressing. The\u00a0SEPIA\u00a0<\/strong>cachexia, of course, would decide easily in its favor, if it is markedly present. There is more urinary irritation, or frequent desire to urinate, with\u00a0LILIUM<\/strong>; indeed this is sometimes so severe as to make one think of\u00a0CANTHARIS<\/strong>. Again, rectal irritation and distress is often found in conjunction with the urinary, in this respect reminding one of\u00a0MERC. COR., CAPSICUM<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0NUX VOMICA.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the uterine we often have quite an array of very severe heart symptoms. There are sharp quick pains, and much fluttering of the heart. This remedy also has in a marked degree the great characteristic symptom of\u00a0CACTUS GRANDIFLORUS, “SENSATION AS IF THE HEART WERE CONSTRICTED OR HELD BY<\/strong>\u00a0AN IRON BAND<\/strong>.” This symptom, associated with the many other heart symptoms, has sometimes led to a prescription of\u00a0CACTUS<\/strong>, when\u00a0LILIUM\u00a0<\/strong>was the remedy and\u00a0VICE VERSA.<\/strong>\u00a0The uterine symptoms are sometimes masked so as to be over-looked for the time by the violence of the heart symptoms. All these heart, urinary, and rectal symptoms seem to be mainly reflex, while the real trouble is centered in the uterus and its appendages.<\/p>\n

The mind is also very markedly affected under\u00a0LILIUM<\/strong>. Here it may resemble\u00a0PULSATILLA\u00a0<\/strong>for tearfulness; doubts her salvation, like\u00a0VERATRUM ALBUM<\/strong>,\u00a0SULPHUR\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0LYCOPODIUM\u00a0<\/strong>and a constant\u00a0HURRIED\u00a0<\/strong>feeling, as of\u00a0IMPERATIVE\u00a0<\/strong>duties with utter inability to perform them.
