It \u2018unites with<br \/>\nhydrogen and forms hydrochloric acid,<br \/>\n\u2019 hence dissolves fibrinexudations, and excretes redundant cell-substances. So it is a remedy for<br \/>\nsmallpox, chickenpox, scarlet fever and measles.<br \/>\nIt assists in the formation of protein and in carbohydrate utilization. It<br \/>\nstimulates metabolism. It is therefore an indispensable constituent of the<br \/>\nliving organism. The principal characteristic symptoms are \u2018a white or<br \/>\ngray coating at the base of the tongue, white or gray exudations,<br \/>\nglandular swellings, discharges or expectorations of a thick, white<br \/>\nfibrinous slime or phlegm.\u2019 (Boericke &amp; Dewey); it is therefore a<br \/>\nremedy for catarrh of mucous membranes.<br \/>\nIt almost always follows Ferrum Phos.<br \/>\nIt has proved curative in:-<br \/>\n1) Dysentery in 6x potency in alternation with Ferrum Phos 6x.<br \/>\n2) Diphtheria, can gargle with it also.<br \/>\n3) Laryngeal croup.<br \/>\n4) Croupy cough; croupous pneumonia and pleurisy.<br \/>\n5) Inflammation of the skin with or without erysipelas.<br \/>\n6) Cutaneous eruptions from bad vaccine.<br \/>\n7) Chronic cystitis with discharge of thick white mucus.<br \/>\n8) Eczema, if the skin blisters and excretes.<br \/>\n9) It is used with Kali Phos in typhoid, enteric and typhus fevers.<br \/>\n10) The 3x potency as a lotion controls blistering in burns &amp; scalds;<br \/>\nsimultaneously 6x potency 5grain doses should be taken internally,<br \/>\nevery two hours.<br \/>\n11) Closed Eustachian tubes; snapping and noises in the ear.<br \/>\n12) Mumps, swelling of the parotid glands.<br \/>\n13) Obstinate constipation; Jaundice.<br \/>\n14) Want of appetite; dyspepsia and indigestion.<br \/>\n15) Diarrhea after fatty food.<br \/>\n16) Principal remedy in gonorrhea and orchitis (inflammation of testis).<br \/>\n17) Bubo with soft swellings of glands (use 3x potency) especially if it<br \/>\nis in armpit or groin.<br \/>\n18) Amenorrhea.<br \/>\n19) Leucorrhea.<br \/>\n20) Aphthae (whitish gray).<br \/>\n21) Cheeks swollen and painful, alternate with Ferrum Phos.<br \/>\n22) \u201cSore, cutting, stitching, shifting pains relieved by cold and hot and<br \/>\naggravated by hard pressure\u201d (Kodanda Ramaiah).<br \/>\n23) \u2018Rheumatic pains felt only during motion or at night\u2019 (Dr Kamal<br \/>\nKansal)<br \/>\n24) It is recommended for diseases of children such as whooping cough,<br \/>\npneumonia, pleurisy, bronchitis, renal inflammation, chronic cystitis, ear<br \/>\ninfection.<br \/>\n25) Ulceration of the os &amp; cervix uteri; hypertrophy of any organ or<br \/>\ngland.<br \/>\n26) Epilepsy after suppression of eczema; eczema after vaccination;<br \/>\npatient imagines he must starve.<br \/>\n27) \u2018Arthritis, bursitis, pustules and vesicles\u2019 (Dr P. N.
