{"id":26960,"date":"2023-04-14T11:33:54","date_gmt":"2023-04-14T11:33:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/materiamedica.net\/?p=26960"},"modified":"2023-04-14T11:33:54","modified_gmt":"2023-04-14T11:33:54","slug":"meningitis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.epostpro.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/14\/meningitis\/","title":{"rendered":"Meningitis"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Meningitis<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>(Inflammation of the meninges, the three membranes enveloping Brain &amp; Spinal Cord due to<br \/>\ntrauma or viral\/bacterial infection or lack of phosphate of iron and potassium chloride; the onset<br \/>\nis sudden; symptoms include intolerable headache, high fever, nausea, persistent vomiting, rigors,<br \/>\ndelirium, rigidity of neck, dilation of pupils etc. The treatment should be timely. Hospitalization<br \/>\nis preferred.)<br \/>\nCauses:<br \/>\na) It may be caused by Meningococcus, tubercle bacillus, pneumococcus, micro organism such as<br \/>\nfungi.<br \/>\nb) It may be caused by extension of sepsis from the skull bones.<br \/>\nc) It may be caused by an abscess in the ear.<br \/>\nPlease note:<br \/>\nThe headache ceases when delirium commences but in meningitis, it continues.<br \/>\nRemedies:<br \/>\n1)<strong> Ferrum Phos 6x &amp; Kali Mur 6x:<\/strong> For congestion of brain with delirium, fever, rapid<br \/>\npulse, hammering pain in head &gt; cold applications, five tablets of Ferrum Phos should be<br \/>\ngiven every one hour and may be alternated with Kali Mur when effusion of serum occurs.<br \/>\n2) <strong>Natrum Sulph 3x, every two hours:<\/strong> For violent pains at base of brain, as if crushed in a<br \/>\nvise, particularly after injuries to the head, it is the remedy and may be alternated with<br \/>\nFerrum Phos 3x and Kali Phos 3x together. Advice of Dr Kent is worth noting:<br \/>\n\u201cIf all the remedies in the materia medica were taken away from me, and I were to have but<br \/>\none with which to treat the disease, I would take Natr. Sulph, because it will modify the<br \/>\nattack and save life in the majority of cases.\u201d<br \/>\nIt is a very good remedy for spinal meningitis particularly in case the patient is living in a<br \/>\nbasement where dampness prevails. The patient does not like sounds; even ringing of a<br \/>\ntelephone is unbearable to him.<br \/>\n3)<strong> Calcarea Phos 2x powder morning and evening:<\/strong> It is the chief remedy in<br \/>\nhydrocephalus, acute or chronic. It should be alternated with Argentum Nitricum 6x if there is<br \/>\nsensation of sudden pinch, intolerance of heat, characteristic splinter-like pains, peculiar<br \/>\nmental impulses, and great desire for sweets.<br \/>\n4) Cuprum Met 6x or 12x twice daily for a week: It is very useful when the patient suffers<br \/>\nfrom cramps &amp; convulsions, and nausea\/giddiness dominates; there may be constant<br \/>\nprotrusion and retraction of the tongue resembling that of a snake; meningitis with sensation<br \/>\nas if water were poured over the head.<br \/>\n5)<strong> Zincum Met 6x or 12x twice daily for a week:<\/strong> He\/ she rolls head from side to side, and<br \/>\nbores it into pillow; forehead cool, but base of the brain is hot; headache may be caused by<br \/>\nthe smallest quantity of wine; brain-fag &amp; meningitis with defective vitality, brain or nerve<br \/>\npower lacking; violent fidgety feeling in feet; can only void urine while sitting bent<br \/>\nbackwards; great relief from discharges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meningitis (Inflammation of the meninges, the three membranes enveloping Brain &amp; Spinal Cord due to trauma or viral\/bacterial infection or lack of phosphate of iron and potassium chloride; the onset is sudden; symptoms include intolerable headache, high fever, nausea, persistent vomiting, rigors, delirium, rigidity of neck, dilation of pupils etc. The treatment should be timely.
