Eyes.

Dull, lustreless eyes with blue rings around them.

Ears.

Stitches in the ear in the morning.

Bleeding from the nose (evening).

Face.

Earthy, jaundiced color of the face.

Paleness of the face with red spots on the white face.

Fiery redness of the face ; the veins are enlarged.

Pale, dry lips.

Yellow spots in the face.

 

Mouth and Throat.

Aching, pressing pain in the throat during deglutition, with heat in the fauces.

Stomach and Abdomen.

Aversion to and bad effects from meat, beer and acids.

Cannot eat or drink any thing hot.

Unquenchable thirst (or thirstlessness). Longing for acids.

Solid food becomes dry and insipid in the mouth during mastication.

[30] Every thing he eats tastes bitter.

Sour eructations.

Bitter eructations after fat food.

Vomiting of the ingesta as soon as he eats.

Vomiting of the food tasting sour in the morning or during the night.

Haemorrhage from the uterus, with labor-like pains in the abdomen and glowing heat in the face ; the blood in partly pale, partly clotted.

Miscarriage.

Painfulness of the vagina during an embrace.

Prolapsus of the vagina.

 

Respiratory Organs.

Hot breath.

Oppressed, short breathing.

Fulness and tightness of the chest.

[65] Asthma (after midnight), compelling one to sit up.

Asthma most violent when lying, or when sitting still without doing any thing ; relieved by walking and talking.

When sitting still loud breathing, as if asleep.

Roughness of the throat, hoarseness.

Stitches and soreness in the chest.

[70] Sensation of dryness in the chest.

Spasmodic constriction in the chest.

Spasmodic cough from tickling in the trachea, with expectoration only in the morning of blood-streaked, purulent, albuminous mucus ; greenish or frothy, tasting sweetish, putrid or sour.

Cough worse in the evening, till midnight.

Spasmodic cough in the morning relieved by eating.

[75] Spasmodic cough after eating and with vomiting of the ingesta.

In the morning, copious expectoration of purulent matter ; in the evening, the cough is dry.

Haemoptysis in the morning and at night.

When coughing, stitches in the chest ; sensation of soreness.

 

Extremities.

Upper. Paralytic tearing pain from the shoulder-joint into the upper arm (left) ; he cannot raise the arm ; slow movement improves it gradually.

Nightly tearing and stinging in the arms.

Numbness and contraction of the fingers.

Swelling of the hands (and feet).

Lower. Nightly tearing and stinging from the hip-joint to the thigh, gradually improving from slow motion.

Painful cramps in the calves, while at rest, especially at night.

Swelling of the feet.

The toes are contracted.

 

Sleep.

Very sleepy at night, with inability to go to sleep.

Generalities.

Clammy and debilitating perspiration.

Every other day perspiration in morning till noon.

Cold perspiration (with convulsions).

[110] The perspiration is immediately preceded by headache.

Intermittent fevers (consequent upon the abuse of Cinchona) with congestion of blood to the head, distention of the veins, vomiting of the ingesta, swelling of the spleen.

 

Skin.

Dirty, earth-colored skin.

Dropsy.

Especially suitable after the abuse of Quinine, Tea, and Alcoholic drinks.
